Dear Parents, Students, and Community Members:
Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year at Oak Forest High School. Once again, we are looking forward to a wonderful year, full of academics, activities, and athletic accomplishments. We are expecting 305 freshmen this year and when combined with our current sophomores, juniors, and seniors, Oak Forest High School will reach approximately 1,325 students. Just as the total number of students at O.F.H.S. has stayed at the same level during the past few years, Oak Forest High School has continued to hold its place as one of the top academic high schools in the south suburban area.
We are very proud of our student successes and we expect no less from our incoming freshmen class. We offer 27 athletic activities during the fall, winter, and spring sport seasons and over 45 co-curricular activities throughout the year. Among our many accomplishments, we proudly boast that we are the home of the 2009 State of Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Softball Champions, the 2014 & 2015 3rd place IHSA State Wrestling team, and the 2016 State Champion Cheerleading team. We encourage every student to participate in our school community outside the classroom. It is our belief that a well-rounded student is a student who is involved in the classroom, as well as on the athletic field, in a club, or with a co-curricular activity.
This year, along with the many new student and faculty member initiatives being implemented Oak Forest High School, we look forward to continuing to work in partnership with our parents and the community. We want everyone to feel welcome in our school and we hope that you will take advantage of the many opportunities to become involved, to learn more about the school, and be a part of the many exciting activities and initiatives that will take place this year. Once again, welcome to the 2017-2018 school year. We look forward to making this the best year ever.
